The overall goal of the project is to advocate for the protection of property rights of religious communities in Albania given that this is an important element of the free exercise of fundamental religious freedoms. The project aim to contribute to the timely resolution of property restitution and compensation process which has been plagued by various challenges including delays, inconsistent application of policies and procedures, political debate, legal disputes and other conflicts. During the implementation of the project, A.L.T.R.I held a series of meetings with representatives of public institutions responsible for property issues and representatives of religious communities with a view to discussing the implementation of legislation in practice, identifying problems, collecting data on requests and decisions For return / compensation / legalization and obtaining their opinion about the mechanisms / instruments needed to solve this problem. At the end of the project A.L.T.R.I developed a study on the ownership rights of religious communities in Albania and drafted recommendations on which public institutions and religious communities should be supported in the future.
